Abilities Basics
Abilities are categorized as Hunter, Warrior, or Assassin.
- Hunter Abilities are usually ranged abilities that use the bow.
- Warrior Abilities help with close-quarters combat, granting melee attacks and buffing armor.
- Assassin Abilities make you a more efficient, well, assassin!
Below you can see a screenshot of what the abilities look like. They're more like "tiers" than "trees." Only six Abilties require a prerequisites, noted by a white line to an Ability below it. The rest can be acquired at will as long as a certain character level is reached.
Most Abilities can only be upgraded with Ability Points to level 2 once the Spear of Leonidas is upgraded to Level 3, and again to level 3 once the Spear of Leonidas is upgraded to Level 5. Abilities can be reset at any time for a few hundred drachmae.
A second melee Ability Wheel is unlocked when the Spear of Leonidas is upgraded to Level 4. The Spear of Leonidas is first upgraded by progressing through the story.
Abilities Tips
Keep these tips in mind as you choose Abilities.
Yes, You're Healing
advertisement
Everytime you use an active Ability like Bull Rush or Predator Shot, you'll regain a bit of health.
Sparta Kick FTW
The kick can seem underwhelming at first, but use it against a foe at the top of a tall cliff to see a rewarding, huge spike of damage when they hit the ground below. It's an easy way to take out difficult Bounty Hunters or groups of foes. Just remember, the kick won't create knock back against enemies more than two levels above you.
Those Passives are No Joke
Make sure to invest in the passive abilities that enhance your damage output and armor. A 40% buff is huge!
Focus!
Because of how Armor perks and Engravements work, it's generally better to focus on one type of damage to get the job done. This way, you can one-shot with an arrow as a Hunter, or an assassination with ease as an Assassin, or survive easily in melee combat as a Warrior.
However...
With that said, it's always a good idea to get the Tier 2 Warrior Ability, Second Wind. This Ability will save you with some needed HP when you most need it.
Reset As You Progress
As you level up and progress, you will eventually unlock the ability to upgrade Abilities to Level 2, and then to Level 3. Consider resetting to upgrade your most used Abilities.
Reset Whenever, Actually
If you have the drachmae for it, you can reset Abilities indefinitely. About to go into a Conquest Battle? Respec to a Warrior build. Need to take out a target from afar? Respec to do maximum damage with a Hunter's Predator Shot. Keep in mind these few hundred drachmae will stack up, so only do it when you really need it (Like fighting in a conquest battle or the arena.)
Abilities Can Combo (or not)
Check out these Ability combos - and, cancellations - to build the most efficient set.
1. Flaming Attacks + Ring of Chaos = Ring of Flaming Chaos
advertisement
Use Flaming Attacks the catch your weapon on fire, then use Ring of Chaos to not only send stunning warrior damage, but also fire damage.
2. Vanish + Rush Assassination = Instant Assassination
That Assassin damage, next to Warrior and Hunter, looks incredible Unfortunately, this damage number only applies when performing an assassination or Assassin Ability, which can be difficult when thrust into combat. Use Vanish to blind your enemies and quickly duck into a bush. From there, you can easily use Rush Assassination to assassinate them! Upgrade the ability to chain it to up to three additional enemies.
Skills That DON'T Stack
- Flaming Attacks (Burning) and Venomous Attacks (Intoxication). The newest infliction will override the old one. No, we also don't understand why someone on fire can't also be intoxicated.
